Security and Close Protection Course
Course for Novices (14 Day)
Our Security and Close Protection (CP), one or three day, course is geared towards men and women that are ex-service personnel or non-military individuals with previous experience and formal Close Protection training. The course is accredited with the completion of 150 guided learning hours (GLH) of training.
Our training courses are Edexcel approved and include significant benefits:
- The course fulfils Security Industry Authority (SIA) requirements and if passed, will result in the close protection license being rewarded. We are also SIA approved training providers
- Once you register with us and pay for part one of the course, training for your license begins. You will receive documentation, which you can show to your employer and local authority to demonstrate that you are undertaking a formal Close Protection course
- There is a one day refresher or three day short course for those with existing CP experience (for further course in formation please contact us at Akona)
- The course combines e-learning, via the internet, with practical teaching and assessment. This increases flexibility for personnel that are deployed overseas or those that have full time employment. It also prepares students for the Edexcel examination

- The course enables candidates to apply for the following: 1. SIA Key holders License 2. SIA Man Guarding License level 2 qualification 3. SIA Door Supervisors Licence level 2 qualification 4. SIA Close Protection Operative Licence (BTEC level 3 certificate)
How does the course work?
The learning development route is flexible, but takes the following general format:
Part 1: e-learning
Compromising of 14 interactive learning modules, which provide the knowledge to progress to part two of the course (choice of one day refresher or three day course)
Part 2: Practical teaching and Assessment
Three days of practical application of the Security and Close protection course in Port Rush, Co Antrim, Northern Ireland. During the three days we will confirm the individual's knowledge with training and testing based on realistic scenarios.
