Door Supervisors and door stewards, also referred to as 'bouncers' or 'floor supervisors', judge the suitability of the people entering licensed premises in order to uphold security. They also maintain order and safeguard the well being of customers on the premises.

In large venues/stadiums queue management techniques are used to avoid conflict, crushing and queue jumping. Body searching may also be used, which may involve metal dictators to deter the carrying of weapons.

Door Supervisors patrol inside a venue or stadium and ensure that they can be located in the event of an emergency. They liaise closely with the police, first aiders and the management, to play a proactive role in defusing a hostile or violent situation. They also work to reduce the supply of drugs into the venue/stadium.
