Overseas Licences and Qualifications

Even if you hold a valid licence to work in the private security industry that was issued overseas, you will still be breaking the law if you work in the UK without the correct SIA licence..

However, if you have already undertaken security related training or character checks to obtain a licence from abroad you may not need to repeat them.

All of the well established security companies in the UK i.e. Kroll, Control Risks, Aegis and many more are requesting that all personnel operating in either Iraq or Afghanistan must hold their licence. It is now a requirement and a quality assurance issue which the security companies can demonstrate to the US Department of Defence, US contract companies, or the local and government authorities.
