Security Operations
EDEXCEL BTEC Level 2 Award Security Operations
Security officers/security guards ensure that buildings, venues, stadiums, valuables and/or people are safe and secure. They help to prevent damage and deal with emergencies by maintaining constant vigilance.
The work may be in the following areas:
- Door supervisors in a large organisation (see the Akona Door Supervisor profile)
- Patrolling property and securing premises
- Monitoring premises and a control room using close circuit television (CCTV)
Professional security officers need to be able to keep accurate records and write reports, which may be handled by the police or courts.
Training - EDEXCEL BTEC Level 2 Award Security Operations
The training for the BTEC Level 2 qualification and licence takes 30-guided learning hours (GLH); this can be taken over four full working days or part-time during evening and weekends.
The course is split into knowledge and practical scenarios based training and assessments. The CCTV operations require specialised SIA licence.
