Who Needs A License?
The following sectors within the security industry require a licence and they can only be obtained by engaging on a formal accredited training course:
Door Supervisors (contractors and in house) Man guards (contractors only) Cash and Valuables (contractors only) Public Space CCTV operates (contractors only) Close Protection (contractors only) Security Consultants (contractors only) Private investigators (contractors only)
Overview of licensed personnel
The following examples explain which security roles require a security licence:
- Guarding premises or property
- Guarding at building sites and guards in supermarkets and shopping centres.
- Security staff and Stewards at entertainment venues, concerts, sporting events, demonstrations, festivals, protests or similar events whose duties are to guard against disorder, protect property and maintain order in general.
- Guarding people against harm (Close Protection)
- Working as a store detective
