A1 Level 3 NVQ Assessor Award

This course assesses trainees working towards their NVQ Level 2 in Spectator Safety and Level 2 AUSSE qualifications.

What does this qualification cover?

The training course is delivered over three days or during the weekends:

- 2 days for the theory lessons
- 1 day of live assessments in the candidate’s working environment.

Trainee Assessors are expected to carry out the following tasks during the NVQ training and assessment:

- Monitor candidates against a list of occupational standards, by directly observing the persona at work, checking a portfolio of written evidence and many other methods.
- Provide feedback to the trainers and offers advice to reassure students, constantly improving the standards of training and feedback.

Upon successful completion of the course, training providers and colleges will employ you to assist with their caseload of candidates.

Many Assessors are employed as Trainer/Assessor, planning and delivering work-related training, as well as carrying out assessments. If you train 16-24 year olds, under the Apprenticeship scheme, you may also provide training and assessing the key skills, which are:

- Literacy
- Numeracy
- Communication
- Information Technology

To be an NVQ/SVQ/VRQ assessor you must have the following skills:

- Competency and experience in the occupational area to be assessed
- Excellent communication skills: to explain occupational standards and offer feedback
- Superior motivational skills
- Interest in helping people develop
- Patience and tact
- Ability to relate to staff at all levels
- Proficiency when writing reports and keeping accurate written records.
