Spectator Safety will be a high profile area with the London Olympic Games coming in 2012.

The aim of the qualification is to evidence the learning of those typically working as stadium managers or safety officers at spectator events, eg concerts or sporting events, where the safety of spectators is of paramount importance. Usually, the candidate would be an employee who is responsible for the overall stewarding operation.

What does this qualification cover?

The candidate will achieve the NVQ by completing seven mandatory units and two optional units.

• Plan for the safety of people attending a spectator event
• Ensure the safety of people attending a spectator event
• Assist the organisation to develop and implement policies
• Manage your own resources and professional development
• Develop productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
• Provide information to support decision making
• Providing learning opportunities for colleagues

There are no formal entry requirements but candidates should typically be working as a stadium manager or safety officer at spectator events, where the safety of spectators is of paramount importance.

* The Level 4 NVQ in Spectator Safety Management will provide transferable skills and knowledge for future progression.
* Candidates can also progress onto the Edexcel Level 5 BTEC Higher National Certificate or Diploma in Sport and Leisure Management.
