Having finished a full career in the Army (the last 12 years of which were served within UKSF) I found myself bewildered by the huge variety of resettlement courses and providers trying to get at my training grant.  During this process I found it very difficult to know who to go with, at which time I was introduced to Steve Ashley (Managing Director of Akona Limited). 

Having met Steve, who is a very amiable down to earth straight talking sort of guy I decided that I would conduct the PTLLS / CMT & CP courses with Akona.  The courses are a well run no frills affair, which is reflected in the good value for money.  Having achieved all of the qualifications mentioned I can thoroughly recommend Akona to any service leavers interested in getting qualified for a new career at a very competitive price.

I am Scott, I’m currently serving in the Armed Forces. I was looking for a career change. When I went to the centre in Woolwich, I came across an intriguing leaflet by Akona advertising Security and Close Protection courses.

When I read the advert I was really interested and I gave them a call straight away. They emailed me all the prices, dates and information and within 3 weeks I was on the course.

The strengths of the course were definitely the subject knowledge of the instructors and the emphasis on the practical training. The exercises were conducted realistically. The course lived up to and exceeded my expectations. First class instruction, excellent subject knowledge with high emphasis on the important parts of surveillance and close protection, highly recommended.
